Is there an equivalent to Mahayana third Bhumi in Theravada?

Re: Mahayana third Bhumi and Theravada
It is my understanding that both Theravada and Mahayana teach that one must become a bodhisattva before becoming a buddha - both have Jakata tales of the previous lives of Buddha Shakyamuni when he was a bodhisattva. However, Theravada does not go into elaboration of the bodhisattva pathway, as does Mahayana.
I defer to those more knowledgeable in Theravada.

I do not think it is necessary. However, Theravada does not go into elaboration of the bodhisattva pathway, as does Mahayana.
This does not mean to say Dana and Sila is not important.
If you want to split an atom you do not have to do everything that people who invented did it.
The prior knowledge is already tested.
