Anapanasati Sutta
When it is known how to actually practise Anapanasati & fulfill it, my post with not be disagreed with.
The Buddha did not teach to follow the in & out breath but taught to abandon craving (which results in knowing the in & out breath)
There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

The Buddha, quite clearly, taught both. One as a means to achieve the other.
ye dhammā hetuppabhavā tesaṁ hetuṁ tathāgato āha,
tesaṃca yo nirodho - evaṁvādī mahāsamaṇo.

Of those phenomena which arise from causes:
Those causes have been taught by the Tathāgata,
And their cessation too - thus proclaims the Great Ascetic.
