Looking for consciousness...

Post by appicchato » Sun Sep 19, 2010 2:28 am

Caught a BBC (Horizon) show about science looking for consciousness…pretty (to me) interesting…especially the part where scientists can accurately forecast decisions we make, up to six seconds before we make them…hmmm…

I saw this program (from October 2009) by downloading it from:

Thank you Bhante.
Personally, I am very interested in recent research into consciousness.
One book I have been recommending over the last year is the work by Thomas Metzinger: The ego tunnel: the science of mind and the myth of the self.
I think we are entering a period where insights of Buddhist wisdom will find some support in science.
kind regards

“No lists of things to be done. The day providential to itself. The hour. There is no later. This is later. All things of grace and beauty such that one holds them to one's heart have a common provenance in pain. Their birth in grief and ashes.”
- Cormac McCarthy, The Road

Learn this from the waters:
in mountain clefts and chasms,
loud gush the streamlets,
but great rivers flow silently.
