Khammouan cave manuscripts dating from 1569

Post by Bankei » Tue Aug 24, 2010 2:10 pm

Does anyone know anything about a recent discovery of Buddhist manuscripts found in the caves at Khammouan in Laos?

It is possible they date from 1569 AD and are part of the Chiang Mai Tipitaka collection.

There is a conference on Early Buddhism at the University of Sydney this weekend, http://www.iceb-th.org/pages/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, where one of the papers will be:
The Tipiṭaka Manuscripts of the Khammouan Cave, in Laos. Associate Prof. Dr Anatole Peltier: Head of Doctoral Programme, Graduate School, Chiang Mai Rajabhat University, Thailand and EFEO, Chiang Mai Centre, Thailand
Abstract at http://www.iceb-th.org/pages/wp-content ... eltier.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Interesting Stuff.
