A young monks ' experience

Post by hermitwin »

This guy wanted to live in a forest monastery for 2 weeks. It didn't go as planned. Listen to his story starting at
5:16.

By the way, his father is a billionaire.

That's interesting. Who is is father?
A dying man can only rely upon his wisdom, if he developed it. Wisdom is not dependent upon any phenomenon originated upon six senses. It is developed on the basis of the discernment of the same. That’s why when one’s senses start to wither and die, the knowledge of their nature remains unaffected. When there is no wisdom, there will be despair, in the face of death.

This is Ajahn Siripanno, who I believe is based at Abhayagiri although travels a lot. His father is a very rich Malaysian businessman, perhaps one of the richest in that country-- oil/gas, entertainment, etc. Ajahn is an excellent teacher and monk!

Although his parentage is not a secret, Malaysians try to avoid discussing it in public because of security concerns. I believe he is currently the abbot of a very remote monastery in Kanchanaburi.
