There is no "realm". The "Deva" has been wrongly misinterpreted as a Deva realm. Although its not so.

There is a Deva realm and also a Deva clan/tribe. The Deva clan are just normal human beings.

Ok. Sure.

"That which among men is sixteen hundred years, Visakha, is one night and day of the Paranimmitavasavatti devas, their month has thirty of those days, their year twelve of those months; the lifespan of the Paranimmitavasavatti devas is sixteen thousand of those heavenly years. Now here a certain woman or man, having entered on the Uposatha undertaken with the eight practices, at the break up of the body, after death, may arise to fellowship with the Paranimmitavasavatti devas — such a thing indeed is known, Visakha. It was in connection with this that I have said: Miserable is kingship over men compared with heavenly bliss.

also this although this sutta translates tusita and paranimmitavasavatti to its English meanings.

Lord Buddha was not born in Sri Lanka.
So elaborating some more would help is't it?
Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammāsambuddhassa

The lie "Lord Buddha was born in Sri Lanka." was popularized in Sri Lanka mainly by an old age novice monk called Meewanapalane Siri Dhammalankara. In addition to that, he had been spreading many more lies. http://panhinda.sirisaddharmaya.net/ is one website that contains a great amount of his foolish ideas. His novice monkhood was canceled in August, 2018 by the relevant bhikkhu chapter in Sri Lanka due to the extensive damage he was causing to the Sasana by distorting the history and Dhamma. The corresponding letter issued by that bhikkhu chapter can be seen here: http://www.trekmentor.com/si/content/book/1136

The monk surprised us all with the news. I could not believe it either at first. Although when looking at the information its quite easy to figure out how the history was distorted. That is what I have presented here and I will be here as long as clarification is needed.

You would think home island Buddhists would be happy. It been quite the opposite. This fella 'Trekmentor' for the last 10 years has been trying to discredit the monk in many ways. So that is the state of affairs I am afraid.

The Buddhist establishment in Sri Lanka is also up in arms. Partly because they do not understand. Also there seems some strange psychological issue they cannot cope with the news. The monk is being harassed in many ways as a result.

That's an example of how these people distort the facts and spread false news to discredit others. Let others see the evidence to support that "10 years" claim.

So far Trekmentor has "0" years in DW. But according to the same interpretation method followed by the Waharaka Cult & co., add a "1" in front of the "0". There you have "10".

Major Errors in the Translation

The Pali cannon written in the Sinhala script is the primary source used to produce the English translation. India has been used as the context for the translation along with Sanskrit.

The wrong country of origin a introduces a large number of errors. Furthermore, the Buddha himself admonishes against associating the Dhamma with Sanskrit. Sanskrit is a language that produces beautiful tones that pleases the ear. This intoxicates and shifts the focus when the goal is escaping.

The presently used Sinhala translation Buddha Jayanthi is derived from the English translation along with all the flaws. Generations of Sinhala children have been taught the Buddha was an Indian when he was in fact a Sinhala person just like them.

There is an established Vinaya rule that advise against word-to-word translation into any other language in order to prevent this exact problem. Although commentaries can be written in any language by Ariyas or persons who have attained the path.

Mahavira was the teacher. Nigantha was possibly a leading disciple based in the island.

Yes indeed. All this happened within the island.

Hi rajitha7 ,

Say that Buddha was born , gave sermons and Parinibbana in Sri Lanka . But , you won't find other ascetics birth place , death location and their sangha establishment site in Sri Lanka !

You have to consider other aspects other than Buddha and Buddhism only if you were to be unbiased / impartial .

By the way , Nigantha Nātaputta is Mahavira .

@James Tan. Don't feed the troll, some people will believe whatever and no arguments or even facts can deter them.

And, looking at what we really know in a verifiable way about the historical Buddha, the picture we have in our minds of him might not match the true person all that much either.

In any case, does it truly matter much if the Buddha was born in Nepal, North India, or Sri Lanka? Those are only places, now wildly different to how they were 2,500 years ago, and both then and now there is little what distinguishes them much from other places.

What counts is the Dhamma, whose message would work spoken in any random place in the world.

:buddha2:
The teaching is a lake with shores of ethics, unclouded, praised by the fine to the good.
There the knowledgeable go to bathe, and cross to the far shore without getting wet.
