What is the Theravada view on transgenders? Can a transgender become a monk?

It's a contentious issue...

Whatever conclusion you come to, do not allow it to put a damper on your practice.
"A virtuous monk, Kotthita my friend, should attend in an appropriate way to the five clinging-aggregates as inconstant, stressful, a disease, a cancer, an arrow, painful, an affliction, alien, a dissolution, an emptiness, not-self."

I would assume they cannot ordain. Since you have to be man to ordain as a bhikkhu, as it is literally asked if you are a man (as well as a human, a convict, etc) when you ordain.

There's also this sutta here which i think sorta implies you have to be a "full" man. As transgendered men in the Buddhas time didnt have surgery or hormone therapy, so they would still biologically be women and not necessary to mention.
How are formal acts invalid as to matter? One ordains a eunuch: a formal act (carried out) not by rule is invalid as to matter. One ordains one who is in communion by theft … one who has gone over to (another) sect … one ordains an animal … one ordains a matricide … a parricide … a murderer of an arahant … a seducer of a nun … a schismatic … a shedder of (a Tathāgata’s) blood … a hermaphrodite … one ordains a man who is less than twenty years of age: a formal act (carried out) not by rule is invalid as to matter.
