metteyya tusita true or false
i am looking for scriptural reference for the claim that metteyya is in tusita right now. is it just from a commentary or did the buddha say it (i am trying to refute someone thinking they could be metteyya)

You should consider reading this article by Venerable Anālayo: Maitreya and the Wheel-turning King. Basically, it says that it may be the case that the historical Buddha never prophesied the coming of the next buddha. I think the article is well worth the read.
