I have a small question about Uposatha: are hammocks allowable?
Suffering is asking from life what it can never give you.

Happy Uposatha! I think I might make the two hour journey to Wat Metta for the day. Just trying to gage my tiredness right now to see if I can drive since it's not even quite 5 am here yet.Khalil Bodhi wrote:Happy New Moon Uposatha! https://www.facebook.com/events/143226269170464/
Edit: Scratch that, my Pops is sick so I guess I'll be looking after him for the day.

Re: Uposatha Observance Club
Today is Magha Puja!
This day, sometimes called "Sangha Day," commemorates the spontaneous assembly of 1,250 arahants in the Buddha's presence. One thousand of the gathered monks had previously achieved Awakening upon hearing the Buddha's delivery of the Fire Sermon; the remaining 250 were followers of the elder monks Ven. Moggallana and Ven. Sariputta. To mark this auspicious gathering, the Buddha delivered the Ovada-Patimokkha Gatha, a summary of the main points of the Dhamma, which the Buddha gave to the assembly before sending them out to proclaim the doctrine.

Asalha Puja
Asalha Puja - Tuesday 19 July at 19h30 in Pinhal de Frades
The Asalha Puja celebrates the first structured speech that the Buddha gave after his enlightenment and is celebrated on the full moon of July (the full moon of the eighth lunar month of the Indian calendar). In this speech gives the name of 'Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta' and was with him that 'the wheel of Dhamma was set in motion' (here Dhamma means teaching). It contains the essence of the subsequent teaching of the Buddha, addressing the 'Four Noble Truths'. It was at the end of this speech, after Kondanno to have fully understood, which began the Buddhist monastic order.
