For example, the Dhammayutt calendar if they're involved with Wat Metta or some other Dhammayutt wat, the Mahānikāya calendar if they're involved with an Ajahn Chah monastery, the Burmese calendar if it's a Burmese vihāra, etc.
And if one is clever, one can hop from monastery to monastery and have uposatha pretty much every day! That ought to be an interesting experience.

Bhante, mike, thank you for the clarifications.

Yes, I am familiar with the fact that different groups have different calendars (like in the like bhante also shared before). And as you say mike, probably it is much easier to follow the calendar of the group associate with than to work something out yourself. I was just curious how it was calculated and what would cause the difference between different groups. And in a way I exactly got my answer: in principle it is a relative simple procedure (practical and pragmatic), and different traditions probably just make their own specific choices.

It’s funny, because that only highlights that it is not really that important when we observe it and much more that we regularly do so...

you will live at peace.

A friend posted this on her Facebook page. The Thai caption, wan phra yai, is a pun. Normally it would mean the "great/major uposatha day", but in the present context its other possible meaning seems more fitting: "the day of the big monk".
