Modern Spirituality & Heedfulness

Post by Zenainder »

Hey forum!

I'm a part of various groups quietly watching the growing sense of spirituality here in the States. As well, generally study various traditions. With all that said, one of the greatest elements that are missing from all of these is rarely a sense of heedfulness is ever encouraged. Especially in modern romanticized spirituality. Has anyone else noticed this or experienced just how profound the principle of heedfulness has been for their journey?

I, for one, can attest to it. I refer to much of the romanticized religion as "glazed eye mysticism". Experiences are certainly occurring, but rarely is there a communicable ground of understanding. Although ecstatic, its still the intoxication the Buddha encouraged us to avoid. It is amazing what occurs in the mind as it opens and how tanha is so ever present, yet often times ignored or missed...

I agree with you,
The most important thing is to watch your own spirituality and heedfulness!
