Cake, anybody?

Post by Annapurna » Thu Sep 23, 2010 4:38 pm

Today, plumcake was sold out at the bakery, so I made one myself. .

Unusul form, but I just wanted a small one.

Thought I share it. ;)

Looks beautiful, Anna!
Are they plum portions sitting on a biscuit base?

Thank you guys, would share if I could!

Lotus-petaled, aww...lovely!

Ben, it's a yeast dough, a biscuit would get too soggy! It's a traditional autumn cake in Bavaria when the plums get ripe!

Before serving, it gets a little cinnamon, then a litte powdered sugar and at the larger end, some whipped cream.

Ideally enjoyed in a lake cafe with a panoramic view at the Alp mountain ranges, watching how rowboats arrive with new guests.

It's a little piece of heaven on earth.

Look:

I've spent many vacations right there.

The traditional dresses are still worn to this day at least on Sundays, when people go to church, on weddings, and so forth, but quite a few wear a modest traditonal garb also during the week.

You should hear the silence on Sunday mornings, and then the churchbells begin to echo through the mountain valleys,-it is so ---

This is Lake Tegernsee.

Hi Anna,

I confess I've been buying my cakes recently ! :embarassed:

Also, I had a big tidy-up of my shelves a while ago and can't find my notebook filled with hand -written recipes I'd collected.

Perhaps it will turn up in an unexpected place, as I'm a bit of an air-head sometimes...

:rolleye:
