i am so gullible, wow

Post by Dhammarakkhito »

i was checking my credit score, which is very bad, a little over 500, from several defaulted debts that are in collections. i was willfully irresponsible about seven years ago and racked up thousands in credit cards, hospital bills. plus student loans im something over 20000 in debt
but ive shared this info before i thhink anyway i gave my social and my card number to this scam called upright law, thinking i was going to be doing a payment plan to file a ch 7 bankruptcy
if i had just looked at their site a bit i wouldve seen its obviously fake. i put my number on legalzoom and got a call from the fake company, guess that is what the auto-dialer option was
i verbally agreed ("i agree") to pay 25 a week until 1435$ was collected
how am i this retarded
i was so excited because ive had this debt so long and just ignored it but the debt is supposed to be paid off in buddhism, financial freedom would be great for my mom whose maybe getting kicked off health insurance. i will have to up and up my merit making to compensate for how undesirable my material existence is

Sounds like you are in some tough conditions.

How would ordaining work out in regards to this?
It seems like many disrobe to take care of their parents.

I think raising money for ordination will sort itself out if one starts training a lot.

IE if one is an Anagarika for a long time and a good one at that, i expect people will start insisting on helping one receive the going forth.
I think this option is the nuts if there is a suitable monastic community where one can do the training, also it is preferable to the lay-state for some people and i can see why.

yeah, worrying about 'external' matters like finances is unfruitful. i'm hardly taking care of my mom on min. wage, she's in rough health right now. and i'm hardly attained enough to repay her as the buddha says by making her a better person. i want to develop dispassion for existence even more quickly my own health will not be very good much longer in my opinion, perhaps im wrong or there's some good kamma waiting for me, but i should stop getting comfortable

Are you still required to pay that, considering you said it's a fake company? I'm no attorney (soon to be father of one), but I'd check into that and see if you are required to pay that, considering the status of that company.

Don't pay the scammers another cent, get your bank account details etc changed, and get legal advice asap.
