Hi, Alan, it's great to have you back and posting more of your very pretty photos. I've been away from home for a little while but that means I can post a few of my holiday snaps when I catch up with the backlog of chores and work.

Re: Pretty pictures
Hey Kim. I've learned a lot about making photos better. Hundreds of hours of study. No, Thousands.
Finally, I think I'm pretty decent.

Amazing! Reminds me to the endless time and space. Actually I've never seen the ocean or sea in my life.

I'm color blind, but still can see the difference between blue and yellow. Just think it's funny to mention, when it's 11 pm in Florida it's 6 am here in eastern Europe.alan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2017 11:47 pm Spotlight pics are cool. Love it when I can get that effect. Usually, they happen when the sun is high, so not much color happens. Color happens best when the sun is low.
David--yeah, I'm on the coast of Florida so near the South. Don't like the culture here, but the water is unique and the light can be sublime. That's why I put up with it, instead of moving back to California.
Here's my latest. rsz_2p1030889-2.jpg

I can shot my best pictures in rain and fog, in the dark. I like reflections.

Re: Pretty pictures
Photography can be seen as a meditative experience. I like it that way.
Or, as a practice of awareness.
In this one I had a decent scene set up, and then out of the corner of my eye two pelicans came gliding into my world. Had to make a last minute adjustment of composition.
Nice shot, required mindfulness and a perfect response. I love doing that.
Maybe you all will enjoy the result.

I agree. Those who share your view might like -

I got it a few years ago and liked it but it mostly reinforced and extended ideas I had already reached for myself (even if I can't put them into practice very well ) rather than being a real eye-opener for me.
I hope you thanked the pelicans for their contribution, Alan.

Always thank my bird friends for their contributions. I'll take a look at that book.
Here's a Happy Christmas pic. Made it only 75kb so as to not come up so large.

I live in a Redneck part of Florida. Don't like the culture, or the people. I live here because the beach is the best I've ever seen. Emerald water and fine sand. There is an incredible luminosity in this part of the Gulf Coast.

The redneck riviera!
Do you have white sand over there? I visited Clearwater once and saw some nice looking white sand.
Re: Pretty pictures
The sand is white in the light of day At night, it is black.

Zom: A Stieglitz influence there, with the feel of Paul Strand. I like it.

Re: Pretty pictures
How do I post pictures from my computer? I was going to post a few but copy/paste isn't working.
Therein what are 'six (types of) disrespect'? One dwells without respect, without deference for the Teacher; one dwells without respect, without deference for the Teaching; one dwells without respect, without deference for the Order; one dwells without respect, without deference for the precepts; one dwells without respect, without deference for heedfulness; one dwells without respect, without deference for hospitality.
