Buddhist politics?

Postby Calahand » Thu Dec 17, 2009 10:02 pm

Interesting video: what happens when a king makes buddhism part of his politics?

This video is from BBC/PBS about Asoka- an emperor who adopted buddhism back in 2nd century AD when buddhism was prevalent in India (Ofcourse, later on buddhism died in India , but persisted in other parts of Asia). It is interesting.

I wonder if our world leaders were like asoka, would it be a better world, or would we have so much religious fighting, wars and such useless things? Would we have so much effort being put into hiding things like global warming from the general public when there is reasonable scientific doubt that YES, it is happening and we need to do something about it for the sake of preserving our little planet? who knows...
