Brothers and sisters, continue to think about what is good and worthy of praise. Think about what is true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.
Philippians 4:8
Good and evil have no fixed form. It's as easy to turn from doing bad to doing good as it is to flip over the hand from the back to the palm. It's simply up to us to do it. Master Hsuan Hua.

8. The best (man) is like water.
Water is good; it benefits all things and does not
compete with them.
It dwells in (lowly) places that all disdain.
This is why it is so near to Tao.
[The best man] in his dwelling loves the earth.
In his heart, he loves what is profound.
In his associations, he loves humanity.
In his words, he loves faithfulness.
In government, he loves order.
In handling affairs, he loves competence.
In his activities, he loves timeliness.
It is because he does not compete that he is
without reproach.
Lao Tzu

Under the auspices and direction of Divine Providence,
your forefathers removed to the wilds and wilderness of
America. By their industry they made it a fruitful, and by
their virtue a happy country. And we should still have enjoyed
the blessings of peace and plenty, if we had not forgotten
the source from which those blessings flowed; and
permitted our country to be contaminated by the many
shameful vices which have prevailed among us.
John Jay

Too many vices today, as in 1770s, flow from forgetting the Source of blessings!

I wonder how inspiring this is for a native americian indian. Non-indians forget that there was a fruitful, virtuous, and happy country (several infact) there before the europeans invaded and stole the land, evicted its former inhabitants, and shaped it into thier own image which they still to this day worship as can be seen at the beginning of major sporting events where most people willingly pledge their lives to their fouly gotten country and those who do not are publicly scorned and against whom coercion is heaped.

Methinks chownah is missing the reason for this thread and the specific post. In the latter case it is "vices flow from forgetting the Source of blessings!"

As for your contempt for the USA, may that vast group of haters be happy.

However, what nation on the planet today has treated their indigenous peoples well? That is correct - not one.

Some people will love you
and it won’t be because you’re funny
it’ll be because they need to laugh.
Some people will hate you
and it won’t be because you’re arrogant,
it’ll be because you look like their father.
People don’t hate you because of who you are,
they hate the part of themselves that you fit into.
People will love you,
people will hate you,
and none of it will have anything to do with you.

~ Charlotte.

Hold aloft the light and stand firm to thy post,
Till all wandering souls have reached their goal in safety.
Service brings strength and renewed life,
Love cures all weariness,
And Faith, the shining jewel of life, performs all miracles.

The reason is not missed. The source of the blessings was the land and resources which were stolen from the nations of people who already lived there when the europeans arrived.....and according to John Jay's words it was done "Under the auspices and direction of Divine Providence"! He is saying that god sanctioned their genocidal actions and even directed them to the task!!! :jawdrop:
Seems that John Jay had alot of dust in his eyes....he obviously did not see things as they really were.

You slander me. I have not expressed contempt for the usa. I have only disassembled the false narrative about its origins and shed some light on how it really was. Some people can not handle the truth however.

The flower that smiles to-day
To-morrow dies;
All that we wish to stay
Tempts and then flies.
What is this world's delight?
Lightning that mocks the night,
Brief even as bright.

Virtue, how frail it is!
Friendship how rare!
Love, how it sells poor bliss
For proud despair!
But we, though soon they fall,
Survive their joy, and all
Which ours we call.

Whilst skies are blue and bright,
Whilst flowers are gay,
Whilst eyes that change ere night
Make glad the day;
Whilst yet the calm hours creep,
Dream thou—and from thy sleep
Then wake to weep.
Shelley

The deluded claim that the false is true, but they fail to see the truth in the falsity; the enlightened see that the false is not true, and so they are able to see the truth in falsity.
