a gentle paṭikkūlamanasikāra

Post by daverupa » Sat Jan 04, 2014 2:31 am

  • "And how is it, bhikkhus, that by protecting oneself one protects others? By the pursuit, development, and cultivation of the four establishments of mindfulness. It is in such a way that by protecting oneself one protects others.

"And how is it, bhikkhus, that by protecting others one protects oneself? By patience, harmlessness, goodwill, and sympathy. It is in such a way that by protecting others one protects oneself.

Dear Dave,

What is a paṭikkūlamanasikāra?

That picture is unnerving.

An attention to aspects of the body, here the skeleton.

The theme is from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. I'm not sure whether the skeletons or the Walt Disney treatment are the more unnerving!
