What is it about?
Complex dynamics (Julia sets 'n stuff).
I have a certain family of rational functions, parametrized by one complex parameter and I have to classify all the possible types of dynamics that can occur, what kinds of Fatou components, and whether the Julia set is connected and so on.
So then I have some fancy looking picture in the parameter space for example, similar like the Mandelbrot set for the family of quadratic polynomials, and many other fancy pictures of the Julia sets that my computer can make. But I have to prove all the stuff that my computer tells me and understand what it really means and why it is like that and connect it with the theory. And somehow I've lost interest in that long ago.
I'd rather go to the forest and become a tree.

Haha, just watched it. I want to get out of this. I'm getting numerophobic.

Okay, enough chit-chat. Next task: drinking coffee.

May the force be with you.

I don't know you very well, but judging from your Facebook and posts on here, I can't imagine anyone finding much fault in you. You look like a great guy, a great father, and I'm sure you'll have no problem finding the right partner.
Thanks for the kind words.

Che sera sera. :D

Good? Bad? Content? Miserable?
What's going on in your life?

I noticed there wasn't a thread for people to talk about their lives casually, so here it is.
My back hurts. It usually hurts. Thanks for asking.

So am I! We should form a club of grumpy gentlemen. I don't know why, either-- It's a beautiful day outside (crazy for January in Toronto) and yet I don't want to engage with anyone. Aside from the Internet. And my music collection. Are you grumpy about anything specific/shareable?

I'll join. Wait! Do I have to be a gentleman?
I'm grumpy about: chronic pain, unemployment, being in debt, poverty, taxes, traffic congestion, my new health insurance company, all the people turned into zombies by their smart phones, and the Utah Jazz lost again.

Luckily, given the holidays, the end result is only about three days taken off of work, and since there were ample sick days saved up there shouldn't be any problems... but, the boss and one or two cow-orkers are probably going to be resentful for a while, so the work environment is going to be fairly stressful going forward, for a time at least.

Livelihood is such a bugbear...

Sorry to hear about your flu. Zap your boss with some metta, so that he/she will be less resentful. I've been similarly prone to illnesses, AFTER my Northern Winter flu jab. It must have over-primed my immune system...
