Can a time limit be put on the ability to edit past posts, or can the feature be removed altogether?

Greetings Craig,

The current settings are...

- Posts can be edited for up to 12 hours.
- Posts can be deleted for up to 30 minutes.

Both values are flexible and have been experimented with over the past decade, and are based upon our experiences of using greater and smaller time-frames.

Metta,
Paul. :)

Why no post and that’s it?

Typos and phrasing mainly, and people thinking up an additional supporting point that doesn't really warrant an entire new post.

That said, we do also have the ability to revoke an individual user's editing access if they abuse it.

Paul. :)

No time limit is fine for mature people.

If people don't behave like responsible adults, their editing/posting rights should be removed.

Not with the native phpBB3 functionality.

There may be an add-on that can do this, but we're wary of having too many add-ons. That said, if anyone is really keen on the idea, feel free to do some research on what is out there, and bring it back to this topic for discussion.

Usage of Submit-Edit combo for some kind of "previewings" can be replaced intelligently by a wise use of built-in Preview button, for some, if there is any --- to avoid awkwardly begging like "Hey, my just-summitted post is not yet final, don't ever quote and reply before my final polishing of it, never!"

:spy: could it be made like facebook :spy:
You don't need to wear a tinfoil hat to believe that the CIA is using Facebook, Twitter, Google (GOOG) and other social media to spy on people. That's because the CIA publishes a helpful list of press releases on all the social media ventures it sponsors, via its technology investment arm In-Q-Tel.

If you thought that deactivating your Facebook account was enough to keep it from tracking your data, you're wrong. Turns out that the social network continues to track you even after you've deactivated your account. Facebook defends the practice by saying it expects you to eventually come back to the service after deactivating your account, and when you do, the ads it shows you should still be relevant.

Greetings,

No, we won't be Facebook.

:spy:

I think this suggestion can now be closed. If anyone had the inclination to explore phpBB3 add-ons, feel free to start a new Suggestion Box topic with your findings.
