Should we have a special assembly for the Devas here?
The Devas can be members of the sangha, too.

Re: Devas
If Devas are mere "members" of the Sangha, why a "special" assembly for them? I think in the suttas we will find the Buddha attempted to make the Devas comprehend they are not so special at all.Manopubbangama wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 4:14 pmShould we have a special assembly for the Devas here? Good sir Moggallana... When I (Sakka, king of the gods) had won that war and returned from it as a conqueror, I had the Vejayanta Palace Built. Good sir Moggallana, the Vejayanta Palace has a hundred towers, and each tower has seven hundred upper chambers, and each tower has seven nymphs and each nymph has seven maids. Would you like to see the loveliness of the Vejayanta Palace, good sir Moggallana?
Then the venerable Maha Moggallana considered thus: "This spirit is living much too negligently. What if I stirred up a sense of urgency in him?" Then the venerable Maha Moggallana performed such a feat of supernormal power that with the point of his toe he made the Vejayanta Palace shake and quake and tremble.

And when the Blessed One had passed away, simultaneously with his Parinibbana, Sakka, king of the gods, spoke this stanza:
Transient are all compounded things,
Subject to arise and vanish;
Having come into existence they pass away;
Good is the peace when they forever cease.

There is always an official executioner. If you try to take his place, It is like trying to be a master carpenter and cutting wood. If you try to cut wood like a master carpenter, you will only hurt your hand.

Re: Devas
Greetings,
That said, if we get enough demand from devas for a special assembly, we'll seriously consider it.
Metta,
Paul.
We have no distinction in this regard at Dhamma Wheel between the male/female, ordained/lay assemblies - it's all the same access, with the same forums.Manopubbangama wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 4:14 pm Should we have a special assembly for the Devas here?

Re: Devas
Yes. They are just people; but with supernormal psychic powers or, otherwise, of great social power & influence (such as Kings, Presidents, Oligarchs, etc). Unfortunately, psychic powers can only send thought messages (but cannot type).Manopubbangama wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:47 amdo you think devas can type on keyboards and post on the internet?

Re: Devas
I think you guys are a bit mistaken.
There is nothing in the suttas to suggest that the devas can type on keyboards.....
Really, thats a silly idea, isn't it?
I mean a place for us to placate the assembly of devas.
Surely this is something that the suttas condone as wholesome?

Do you really think the devas would appreciate that?
Re: Devas
Why would they stoop to surfing the Internet?
What is the Uncreated?
Sublime & free, what is that obscured Eternity?
It is the Undying, the Bright, the Isle.
It is an Ocean, a Secret: Reality.
Both life and oblivion, it is Nirvāṇa.

Yeah, I misread your post and thought you wanted a forum to commune with devāḥ in.
