Bring the Dana sub-forum back?

Post by User1249x »

I think it is unfortunate that it was removed since Dana is an important part of the practice

We had a dana sub-forum?

there was i think
Born, become, arisen – made, prepared, short-lived
Bonded by decay and death – a nest for sickness, perishable
Produced by seeking nutriment – not fit to take delight in

Departure from this is peaceful – beyond reasoning and enduring
Unborn, unarisen – free from sorrow and stain
Ceasing of all factors of suffering – stilling of all preparations is bliss

Greetings,

Keeping in mind that:

- The Dhamma is the greatest of all gifts
- There's a Dhammaduta section where you can discuss the propagation of the Dhamma
- There's an Ordination & Monastic Life section where you can discuss donations to the Sangha
- Dhamma Wheel Engaged is the new home for engaged worldly endeavours, charities, foundations and such
- No one is going to stop you discussing Dana in the General Theravada section

...I'm curious to know what relevant Dana-related discussion couldn't be had under the current forum structure? Our preference is to have sections only when a particular type of discussion necessitates it, otherwise there would be a massive proliferation of overlapping sections, given the number of important and interesting things we could discuss. Arguably, if anything, there's still too many discrete sections, but it's far more rationalized now than it was 6 months ago.

As for the original Dana sub-forum, it was so under-utilized that it was closed down, and individual topics moved to other sub-forums in accordance with the logic above. (Worldly dana was moved at the time to the Lounge because DWE did not exist, and besides, you can't move a topic to another website).
