can you save a draft

Post by Dhammarakkhito »

ive been thinking about a couple of posts but would rather take my time if i'm to make them at all. could take several days
if i dont have anywhere internal to save them i'm more liable just not to post

As I recall, we removed the draft option some time ago, as it was buggy, and often lost the drafts. Since we've had a number of updates since then, it might be worth bringing it back, especially if it encouraged members to polish their message before posting...

Alternatively, if writing something long, I would advise editing it as a file first.

Or keep a draft via PM to yourself - that way all of the html coding is done as well. And be sure to hightlight and copy the entire thing each and every time you either are about preview or send just in case your login session timed out while you were writing. If you don't you may lose the entire thing.

Though I am wondering with the software upgrades we've done if the draft function may actually work now if we enable it.

Maybe we can leave it on when DWE goes live.

If it works there we could try to bring it back here?

the private message thing will work, still would be nice to have because yes it could help more people to be careful what they post and also there are members who for some reason post a little bit then go in and substantially add edits. i mean like they have it saved but post it in sections, not sure why

Or you could be super-public-spirited and trial it here, where you have lots of users and should find out quickly whether it's working, before imposing dubious software on a poor struggling newbie board with (for a while) a lot less traffic.

That only works when you notice the problem quickly enough, however.

Or, more specifically, David and the webmaster could. Yes, I have no problem with that.
