Inflammatory symbols as avatars

Post by Mr Man » Sun Jul 20, 2014 5:50 pm

I think that there should be a policy to not allow Inflammatory symbols as avatars.

That's a tough policy to legislate for. What is inflammatory? Swastikas can be Buddhist as well as Nazi symbols. Six-pointed stars? Cartoon characters? Who is this guy?

I think the best policy is to just report a post of a user with an avatar that you find inflammatory, and tell the mods why. Then they can fix it.

That Bhante is, I believe, a "Blue Meanie". With the Swastika I think it is fairly easy to differentiate the common Nazi usage from the religious symbol but yes it would be a tough policy to legislate for.

He is the Chief Blue Meanie of Pepperland. Obviously you are not a Beatles fan. And let us not forget that the Blue Meanies underwent a complete transformation. But for you, I'll change it.

Non-Beatle fans should simply not be allowed to coexist with normal humans. But that's just my opinion.

How about a ban on overly large avatars, or using two photos? Like stock pictures of kid monks blowing bubblegum or fake laughing in obviously phony set-up shots, for instance?

So anything goes as an avatar then?

I don't want to them off.

It is the Israeli flag that I feel is inappropriate and lacking in sensitivity.

The burning monk doesn't do anything for me, either.
18 years ago I made one of the most important decisions of my life and entered a local Cambodian Buddhist Temple as a temple boy and, for only 3 weeks, an actual Therevada Buddhist monk. I am not a scholar, great meditator, or authority on Buddhism, but Buddhism is something I love from the Bottom of my heart. It has taught me sobriety, morality, peace, and very importantly that my suffering is optional, and doesn't have to run my life. I hope to give back what little I can to the Buddhist community, sincerely former monk John

Thank-you.

Someone should ask that annoying, irritating little member with the bubblegum-blowing young Monk to....

Thank you. I am by nature a very mirthful and jocular person, though it is somewhat restrained here....
In actual fact, I have more often than not been referred to as 'the joker in the pack'.

To be fair, burning monks are literally inflammatory.
