Courteous Greetings

Post by nmjojola » Fri Nov 29, 2019 11:12 pm

Hello, American male born 1989, I thank the Theravada for without I'd of never encountered the suttas (which I think was somewhere around 2013), and I can't imagine my life without the impact that has made. I have studied more avidly than a casual reader but less than a scholar, I went on a few retreats, one was for a whole vassa period, and I also ordained as a samanera for almost a year, I have been back in lay life for about 2 1/2 years now.
I have my reservations and concerns about turning to organized religion (of which essentially by nature of its organization and function Theravada is not distinct from) as a 'going-forth strategy' for myself, but what's important is that they provided the pali suttas - the reality that I'm fortunate enough to be alive, as a human, in an age when the wheel is spinning is the central gratitude of my life, and I thank the Theravada for being a major player in that.
