Hello

Post by stentoriusmaxim » Sun Sep 17, 2017 9:23 am

Hello, My name is Edric.

I think it feels good to interact with people on the Buddhist path. I hope to be compelled by this and thus further increase my own qualities, if that makes sense.

Doctors have told me I have Adhd. I take this to mean I'm always chasing the future. It implies an energetic person, but I'm often a tired person who has conceptualized incentives that whip him up into chasing things that produce good feelings in order to avoid the unpleasantness of the current now: that is, of apathy, of depression, of boredom, which are the least bad things that seem to come up more and more often if I don't apply Buddhism to my life. It's like you can't have the Dharma orbit your life, your life orbits the Dharma.

I'm not that well read on Theravada, please forgive me. I'm coming from a Tibetan Buddhist background, that said I'm definitely not here to make claims of which is better etc.

I hope on a basic level to get a sense of what I'm heading towards, gain motivation and understanding, then apply it, and also have clarity about certain experiences. Because I don't want to chase the wrong thing.
