Hi everyone :hello:

I've been a non-affiliated Buddhist for about 3 years. Looking forward to lots of interesting discussions and getting to know you all

Welcome!

:namaste:
To study is to know the texts,
To practice is to know your defilements,
To attain the goal is to know and let go.

- Ajahn Lee Dhammadharo

With no struggling, no thinking,
the mind, still,
will see cause and effect
vanishing in the Void.
Attached to nothing, letting go:
Know that this is the way
to allay all stress.

Thank you for all the welcomes, everyone!

As far as my practice goes, I try to meditate regularly (mostly samatha meditation) and have varying degrees of success with maintaining the habit. I try to remain mindful throughout everything I do. Whilst I appreciate intellectual discourse, I do try to avoid overanalysis and overintellectualisation as it tends to trap me in attachment to views, doubt, restlessness and sloth. I prefer to keep things simple, think less and be more aware. Although I am non-affiliated, I do lean towards the Theravadin, Tibetan and secular "flavours" of Buddhist ice cream  (like a Buddhist neapolitan!)
