I've been visiting a wat in the United States of America. Before that spent a lot of time studying zen. I'm interested in the lesser vehicle. The monks and novices have been very helpful in understanding portions of the teachings. Also with various meditation techniques.
Welcome Canda! Just a heads up that the word Hinayana or "lesser vehicle" is a derogatory word used to describe and denigrate the Theravadan tradition by the Mahayana. I'm sure that you were unaware and it was not intentional but in the future please refrain from using that term or designation as it is offensive to our tradition. Thank you and I hope you find our site useful!

To practice is to know your defilements,
To attain the goal is to know and let go.
