Nice! Congrats!

Finally made it, In two days it'll be a week since I arrived. I'm in white. Just about got the novice ordination memorized then we will proceed with penciling a date in the calendar for it. The lay supporters here are more anxious about it than I am!DC2R wrote:Greetings Nick,
Good luck on your journey and keep us updated!
I am kinda excited though not going to lie, but I'm keeping in mind steadiness is key. Which has been what I've been up to, feeling out the timetables of the activities here so I can adapt a steady routine for my day, not to follow strictly per say cause humans aren't robots and being (somewhat) aloof, flexible, and ready to change is important, but you know to serve as guide.
I've been asked "are you happy you made it here?" I wouldn't put it that way.
A more accurate assesment of my general mental state, 1. Confidence (conviction) 2. Determination (serious). and 3. Gratitude (very thankful for being allowed to do this)
Metta to everyone.
Regards,

Hey everybody, been awhile, I arrived at the monastery Jan 21st, I received my novice ordination on March 5th, and am still here. Last week I moved into the woods and been staying in the hut since and plan to do so for as long as climate permits.
Also my personal laptop and a few other belongings were put away in storage some time ago and plan to have them sent home. I come back here to the main house for morning and evening rituals such as chores, chanting, and meal; and upon which now and then ill get on this general-use desktop for an hour or so before heading back out to the hut, to check news and this site, (I weened off social media earlier on), and dhamma related things, for instance I found a pdf of K.R. Normans a Philological Approach to Buddhism just the other day been reading that, I think he's probably my favorite scholar and translator.
Been keeping a journal, not sure why, it started off as just a record/log of my time spent in formal sitting concentration training and back and forth walking, but as time went on and balancing the faculties became a more cohesive process my practice became more practical, I stopped logging start and end times as I went along and now just enter general summaries of how my time has been spent through the days and nights.
Some days my meditation is intensive, other days it isn't, it's definitely a gradual tuning process especially when it's amidst a complete lifestyle change.
Things were definitely very hard in the winter after the initial 'joy' of arriving here burnt out. On the other hand, thanks to perseverance, there's been unexpected and profound milestones reached.
Been contemplating what level of discipline to resolve for when the rainy season starts.
uhm...yeah i guess that's it for now!
