the arising of knowledge that all phenomena are not-self?" See my bolded highlight. Frankly I'm amazed that you still don't understand this passage. It couldn't be clearer. I understand not self You lack control on some level, right Because it’s not self "The arising of knowledge that all...

Re: When & why did the teaching on momentariness emerge?
Buddhism doesn't teach only one consciousness (Brahman in Advaita).
That's an obvious difference between the two traditions.
What you personally believe is fine, but here we're on a Buddhist forum, discussing Buddhist teachings.

Irrelevant quote-mining. Adyashanti isn't an Advaitan.cappuccino wrote: ↑Sat Dec 02, 2023 9:51 pm"There is no self in self-consciousness. The self is inferred, not actual." —Adyashanti

Re: When & why did the teaching on momentariness emerge?
No. In Advaita the sheaths (koshas) are not Atman. In Buddhism the aggregates are not self, but there is no Atman.
Again, this is basic stuff, which you clearly haven't understood.

This is basic stuff.

Re: When & why did the teaching on momentariness emerge?
