Remember that a lot of food contains ingredients which influence your mind (think chocolate or coffee) not to mention the chemicals your body makes. It is no joke that love is intoxic...

Re: New Meditation Forum Structure

Simple. I really like that there is a new Ethical Conduct section here. My only suggestion for that section is to mention the term "Sila" in the title so that newcomers know what to search for if they want to know more.

Re: Buddhist cults?

The rates are the least of the problems it seems. I would advise to get out of there. A teacher which is genuine will have a teaching that leads to the truth and is truthful himself. He will also teach compassion with compassion and encourages you to think for yourself and teach yourself. I see none...

It was meant by me as a what-if scenario for the sake of argument as I explain in the first sentence. I surely hope that it is not really the case.

Re: Vipassana movement

Although Tiltbillings explained that the following quote is not (entirely) true I want you to pretend it is for the sake of argument: It appears to me that their object was to bring Mindfulness Meditation, Insight Meditation/Vipassna to the US in a secular manner, so as to avoid the religious connot...
