Buddha coming

I remembered before Buddha pass onto Nibbana when his physical body comes into a dead line, he mentioned about what is Dhamma and what is Not Dhamma. So basically everyone know what is and what is not Dhamma. My question is: Before Siddhatha came to become a Buddha, he trained hard. And right before...

Re: Do arahants still have delights and cravings?

This isn't right. Arahants don't have any defilements. There is no craving, no delighting (that is, subtle craving by way of relishing). The defilements are eradicated in the four stages of sotapatti-magga, sakadagami-magga, anagamita-magga and arahant-magga. And once the defilements are eradicated...

Re: Do arahants still have delights and cravings?

an arahant should not have delights (emotional feelings) and cravings Starter arahant should not have delights and craving is not that they do not have it, but do not cling onto it. When you do not cling onto it , It won't be YOURS . So an arahant should not and could not cling onto cravings and de...

Re: how to lose the sense of self?

Just keep on practicing. If your meditations gone stronger, in normal daily activities you will suddenly remind yourself of the practice and you will be mindful all the time.

Re: Overcoming passion

I know what you lack of,tranquility and concentration. Samatha meditation will help. Engage in tranquility meditation. If it's better if you can enter Jhana. Practice more. Identify yourself, let's try this out. If you practice vipassana you feel really peaceful, try on samatha. If you practice sama...

Re: Is our desire part of us?

Let's imagine. If you are a monkey who is fulled, not needing any food. But you see a coconut hanging on a coconut tree. And at the same time, one of your leg is hurt. What you do? You will continue climb on it, even though it's not needed, but you as a monkey thinks you need the coconut so that you...

Re: massive earthquake and tsunamis hit japan

It was good too, have earthquakes now. Since there's disasters, we would more easily to spot people who is kind hearted, we are able to unite, and we all able to enjoy the love in the world. Since there's a GREAT suffering, there will too be a GREAT happiness

Re: Kruba Ariyachat and Amulets

Hmm sometimes I just don't feel comfortable wearing those Amulets which are not a Buddha's rupa. Thanks for the informations you guys gave me. But still, meditation and purification of our mind is much better than wearing any Amulets. :anjali:

Re: Kruba Ariyachat and Amulets

I found out those Amulets is Buddha's image which is similar as a Buddha statue, but smaller. So people can see calm in them. But the problem is Thailand got too much people do not understand and bring wrong thoughts and teachings to people, spreading unwholesome teachings to people even across to a...

Kruba Ariyachat and Amulets

Hi, I am from Malaysia, southeast Asia. When I was small in age, my father would go to a temple very often. The monk in the temple smokes. And they all do, posses "Amulets" with some figure of a people meditate or so. Through what I understand so far, is that those Amulets a lot originate from Thail...

Something about vegetarianism

Here is another quandary for you. The Buddha said that his lay disciples should avoid making their living by five trades (vanijja); these being trade in weapons (sattha), in human beings (satta), in meat (mamsa), in alcohol (majja) and in poisons (visa, Anguttara Nikaya III.208). Although this seem...

Spotting an Arahant

For a long time I see that people would sometimes identify if someone who claims themselves as an Arahant. To see he is a real or a fake Arahant by the "factors of Arahant" something like that. But how do we actually know that person is an Arahant if, he do not claim himself as Arahant but he is one?

Re: The great honourable Mor

Good story. The only thing that intrigues me is: How could the older sister who is supposedly too arrogant to accept help from her younger sister become a nun? Well in ancient China, even up till now majority of the people there have thoughts of to be nun, when there's no choice for a living. They ...
