Re: If there is no soul, why doesnot the mind takes rebirth as multiple entities?
what was the predeccesor of the digitized worm? whose kamma it carries? so you are accepting that this digitized worm is creating kamma? (else how can it be reborn as a human?) How can a being with no kamma go on to create kamma (assuming that digitized worm is a totally new beginning)? When did the...

Re: If there is no soul, why doesnot the mind takes rebirth as multiple entities?
The thing is , and I say this BLUNTLY, new developments in science are about to outstrip the traditional understanding of Dhamma Take the example of the worm mind being digitized and put into a robot..Now is that a sentient being?..well it has self-interest, urge for self-preservation, and reacts to...

Re: If there is no soul, why doesnot the mind takes rebirth as multiple entities?
of course donot take the source literally..but like the entire river stream which has no beginning..but a definite end with Nibbana so like jumping from one tree to another tree, a monkey will never become two monkeys...right? I just want a straight yes or no answer regarding your own proposition Bu...

Re: If there is no soul, why doesnot the mind takes rebirth as multiple entities?
Dear all especially Shri Bhikkhu Dhammanando ji, Since all are unanimous that a stream of consciousness can never separate or merge and always remain unitary (though always changing) I want to have answer to another question..I really donot want a post saying that I should not even be asking this qu...

Re: If there is no soul, why doesnot the mind takes rebirth as multiple entities?
...why doesnot the mind take rebirth as multiple entities? ... If I may replace the term "mind" by "consciousness" then actually consciousness takes rebirth as multiple entities ... not simultaneously but sequentially. why should it be sequentially? I like Shri Dhammanando ji's ...

If there is no soul, why doesnot the mind takes rebirth as multiple entities?
If there is nothing that hold together the Skandhas...why doesnot the mind take rebirth as multiple entities? Is it possible that one may be reborn as many and many may be reborn as one?

Re: Is eradication of sexual desire the biggest sign?
Pain is only when there is no sexual partner available to me..I still see past sexual encounters in a good way, I am happy about them..If I never had sex and still had sexual desire , I would have been a miserable person..I remember I felt much happier about myself after being able to attract a part...

Re: Is eradication of sexual desire the biggest sign?
Even with a lot of meditation , fasting, mindfulness I have not been able to reduce my libido..On the contrary, it reaches an absurd level when I am well fed and doing regular workouts...then there is a point where I donot WANT to engage in mindfulness of the sexual desire. If a lay Buddhist is not ...

Re: Is eradication of sexual desire the biggest sign?
But Ben,
seeing it rise and fall with equanimity also means desisting from it isn't it? Can you be mindful of sexual desire and still engage in it...A person who can mindfully see the rise and fall of his sexual desire every time is obviously a person who can desist from sex all the time

Is eradication of sexual desire the biggest sign?
Don't you think the sureshot way of guaging one's progress is to see whether one has terminated libido/sexual desire/sexual thoughts completely in one's self? Can one really be seen as progressing in the patth when nothing is done to vanquish sexual desire? Don't you think with destruction of sexual...

Re: Can somebody become supergenius through meditation?
David can you please explain a bit more elaborately as to why you think that 10 points gain is the absolute limit from meditation? Thank you in advance
A bit dissapointing..I was hoping that 3-10 yrs of 1-3 hours meditation daily would increase one's IQ by around 40 points
