Re: advertising

What advertising? If you are referring to any specific posts, please use the report function. If you are seeing a bunch of hyperlinks to other sites on various words on the screen, then that means you have a trojan virus. You need to do a sweep of your computer to remove the virus(es). If you can't...

Re: Why would a creator god need a creator god?

Well, some members of the Abrahamic faiths always ask us where did the world come from, who created the universe? Where are those members of the Abrahamic faiths who are asking this? Everywhere. When Buddhists encounter members of Abrahamic faiths and the discussion is religion or the person finds ...

Re: "What lies on the other side of Unbinding?"

Say some one ask the question "Who create God" when some one answer "God create the world" Can the answer be "You have gone too far .......... etc" If not why? No, because the question is advocating creation and intelligent design hence the creator must also has a crea...

Re: Meditation apnea, asphyxia and ecstasy

When it begins to occur - which is to say, you notice this process warming up to get going - what are you able to do? For example, you said the breath eventually stops; why not re-establish awareness at that time? Since you'd necessarily have stopped doing anapanasati, pursuing the process you've d...

Re: Meditation apnea, asphyxia and ecstasy

What is your bhavana method when lying down? Mostly anapanasati sometimes satipattana, or just observing and pondering. Sometimes it happens after just 5 minutes of lying down and other times longer. One thing i'm sure is they happen only when the mind is already quite calm and as far as i recall, ...

Re: Meditation apnea, asphyxia and ecstasy

I have experienced what you describe, but not to that intensity. The pleasure that comes from it can, I think, be mistaken for piti and sukha, but it is not. From my reading and understanding, piti and sukha are based on a virtuous and wholesome mind, withdrawn from sensual pleasures rather than fr...

Re: Meditation apnea, asphyxia and ecstasy

In another thread I mentioned that it's easier for me to slow down the breath when lying down. I just realized that some people could've misinterpreted that to mean the breathing was close to stopping. That would be the case if a physical object was moving at a slow speed, but it wasn't what I mean...

Re: Meditation apnea, asphyxia and ecstasy

Google the Choking Game. The wiki is bad at explaining it though, find a different page. Also similar mechanism to Autoerotic Asphyxiation. Don't be tempted to play around with it, a good friend of mine died that way. At the funeral they said Suicide, but everyone who knew him well knew otherwise. ...

Meditation apnea, asphyxia and ecstasy

I experienced it about each every few months and the last time was yesterday which is the most intense one, it happens only in lying posture. Strong feeling of ecstasy suddenly emerged and filled my whole head while body temperature rose intensely to the point of being sweaty. Breath eventually stop...

Re: Is breath an action (Kamma)?

Is breath an action (Kamma)? - Where does breath fit in five aggregate? (Form, Feeling etc) In-&-out breaths are bodily; these are things tied up with the body. That's why in-&-out breaths are bodily fabrications . And what is kamma that is bright with bright result? There is the case where...

Re: Developing the 7 factors of enlightenment

In the suttas the 7 factors are presented in a particular order. My assumption is that the order isn't of any particular significance, but I'd be interested to hear if there are any different views on this point. In the context of 1st jhana, they appear to be supporting factors but i wonder why suk...
