Re: Problem - Muslim family

lying about being a Buddhist to protect your wife from being killed is the good thing to do. If you said "we are Buddhists now and don't believe in allah" they might kill both of you. What's worse lying to a Muslim or having a Muslim kill your family. I'd lie my ass off. I'd be proud I pro...

Re: Praying and sending metta

Buddha did it to tame a wild elephant but I'm not sure how far away the elephant was at the time. So I guess buddha could radiate metta very strongly which is cool.

Re: Why five cords and not six cords of sense pleasure?

If I'm understanding zom correctly there are five cords of sensual pleasure because that's how we first get pleasurable sights sounds smells tastes feelings, only after that can you imagine pleasant sights sounds smells tastes feelings.

Are there any articles or an essay something succinct that explains how to do mindfulness of Inhalations and exhalations (not just rising falling of abdomen) with awareness of the 5 aggregates. Someone who teaches anapanasati but not just staying with the breath but being aware of sounds feelings th...

Re: The Experience of Impermanence

Being aware of impermanence can take many shapes sometimes it's peaceful like listening to the cars driving by coming and going. Or letting greed pass feels like a micro nibbana. Sometimes it's painful when you intuit Dukkha of everything.

Re: The Experience of Impermanence

If I'm focused on impermanence like feelings and sensations for a while if pain comes up I'll know that feeling is going to change even while the pain is there so it ceases to afflict my mind there's a level of it's ok it's not that bad because I know it's going to change or go away.
