Hmmm... Melbourne has 63 CCTV cameras around the city, and the gun buy-back was in 96. Is that a police state I wonder?

Re: eating hatchable eggs constitute killing ?

Edit: I was wrong about the blood spots, they do not mean the egg was fertilized and apparently a fertilized egg won't necessarily have one.

Re: Hello from Cape Cod MA

Hi everyone, My name is Lisa and Iam a seeker of religious and spiritual wisdom. I study mythology and world religions so Buddhism has been on my radar for over thirty years but I never seriously started to study it until last year. Let’s just say my world view of eat, drink, and be merry has shift...

Re: Global Warming: Recent Data

Sometimes it's hard to separate the issues, but in the last couple of days Leeuwenhoek has been saying here that nuclear is a solution to the climate crisis, which obviously belongs in this topic, and Chownah and I have been saying it isn't a solution because of (1) economics and (2) safety, which ...

Re: Americans will never give up their guns.

Guns banned, more police presence, more CCTV, stronger sentences, that is the way. Kevin Hi Kevin, I share your distaste for guns, however the first three of your proposals are some of the justifications for why the Second Amendment (in the U.S.) is important. Do you really trust the State that muc...

Re: Americans will never give up their guns.

Under that decision-making framework, I would own a gun if in a country where that was legal. What you need is more CCTV in London, and stronger sentences for all the cri...

Re: has the smartphone destroyed a generation

We're living in a mobile world. A lot of young people seem to be living primarily in a virtual world. They may have lots of "friends" online, but often have few in "Real Life." How many of those "friends" will bring them soup when they're ill, or give them a ride when needed, or give them a hug whe...
