when i must get up, for example to go to the bathroom, i make sure to keep my mindfulness with my breath or in my walking. as far as disturbances like noise... i actually had ran into a problem where any disturbance would totally disrupt my meditation. if i had earplugs on, was totally undisturbed, ...

how in the world does this make sense? intention! i wonder about that stuff myself, re: how to deal with dangerous pests. it's been extremely challenging for me to grow my garden without the use of pesticides or any other bug-killing agents. i've heard that a lot of monasteries actually do fumigate...

i think 'best' is determined by personality and what works best for you. solitary life is good for some peoples practice, and i think for some it would be counter-productive.
