Apply the same principle as "If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it".

Re: Choiceless awareness meditation in Theravada Buddhism?
I do but I promise you I was being dead serious in that post! :) Well I would be interested to hear how your awareness is when you practice mindfulness of the body? Is it broad and encompassing or is it narrow and limited? Mindfulness of the body is described in SN 35.247 as a post or pillar meant ...

Re: Choiceless awareness meditation in Theravada Buddhism?
You always like to be a smart-ass  To practice mindfulness of the body awareness is broad, expansive. I imagine that I have been the longest practicing member on this thread but that is neither here nor there. I do but I promise you I was being dead serious in that post! :) Well I would be ...

Re: Choiceless awareness meditation in Theravada Buddhism?
SDC From the sutta you quoted yesterday SN 35.247 And how, bhikkhus, is there restraint? Here, having seen a form with the eye, a bhikkhu is not intent upon a pleasing form and not repelled by a displeasing form. He dwells having set up mindfulness of the body, with a measureless mind , and he unde...

Re: Choiceless awareness meditation in Theravada Buddhism?
I would be interested to see examples of Ajahns teaching that the sense's should be given free rein or that unwholesome thoughts should be indulged in. I’d also be curious to see what the logic is behind giving an untamed and limited mind space to roam as it pleases. But who is advocating for that?

Re: Choiceless awareness meditation in Theravada Buddhism?
The six senses are supposed to be anchored and not given free rein, as they belong to Mara. Anyone who thinks choicelessness is an effective strategy is essentially giving Mara control over where the mind feeds. Suppose, bhikkhus, a man would catch six animals—with different domains and different f...

Re: Choiceless awareness meditation in Theravada Buddhism?
I’m looking for recommendations for sources of literature on this, especially from Thai forest Buddhists This is from Ajahn Chah: Q: Is it necessary to sit for very long periods of time? A: No, sitting for hours on end is not necessary. Some people think that the longer you can sit, the wiser you m...

Re: Genderless Babies
I have reported that I had the memory. Do you want to say that the inability to publicly verify a memory means that I am spreading false information, or that the content of the memory puts it at odds with my initial claim? All I want to say is what I wrote: "You haven't reported your memory of...

But I thought whatever I witnessed was rendered irrelevant by you being unable to verify it? No, I'm not. Re: Genderless Babies
No, I'm not. I'm reporting my memory of what I witnessed, and the unsolicited hearsay of what my daughter claims to have witnessed. She could, of course, be lying or mistaken, but then again, so could you. That's the only "information" that I am spreading. But you haven't told us what you...
