Re: Hello, what is this?

His acts were clearly impractical and destructive. The point made in the book had to do with the message it created for the rest of the world as to what NOT to do, that's what I meant by "service" lol. It was relative to the nature of life and how you need contrast to experience anything, a basic e...

Re: Hello, what is this?

Hi, I personally feel Conversations with God is far from being a Christian God oriented book. Through the book series you find that "god" is everything, including you, and at some point admits to the author talking to himself. It disagrees with the existence of sin, right and wrong, and claims Hitl...

Re: Hello, what is this?

I believe in Brhama God. Buddha said it is a misconception of Braham that he thought he created the world. I believe in Kamma and re-birth and some understanding of Anatta. Have you taken refuge in Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha. You do not have to answer any of my questions if you feel so. By the way I...

Re: Hello, what is this?

Do you believe in Kamma, Rebirth and Anatta? :) I believe in Kamma and Rebirth, sorry for my ignorance but don't know what Anatta is. Also I'm a vegetarian and that seems to go well with the Buddhist concept of Ahimsa.. the vast majority of Christians are not unfortunately. Where do you stand on al...

Re: Hello, what is this?

So why you are a Buddhist not any other religion believe in creator God? What aspect of Buddhism appeal to you over other god believing religions? Hey even Thich Nhat Hanh wrote Living Buddha, Living Christ. But to answer your question, Buddhism just makes the most sense to me. Christian...

Re: Hello, what is this?

Next I came across 'conversations with god' by Neil Donald Walsche, this book really destroyed a ton of my limiting beliefs. I read that book as well and loved it. I consider myself a Buddhist who believes in God. Anyway welcome! Good to have you on here with us. With metta, Jim What do you mean by...

Re: new, question about Vipassana retreat

Well what you could do is, obviously, bring your cell phone and then just talk loudly on that the whole time(this way your friends won't have a chance to bother you while you're there).

Sorry, not funny I know. Anyway welcome! Hope you all truly benefit from this retreat.
