Re: Meditating babies
As for babies not sure experiencing aversion, waking them up at 6:30am by opening the curtains wide then shoving a camera in their face seems to do the trick

Re: Meditating babies
I'm enjoying this thread; very informative discussions going on. For the record, I don't really think my daughter is meditating when she looks like this.

Meditating babies
My 11-month old daughter finds the half-lotus position most comfortable. Here, she's gazing off into space (not watching TV or anything, we don't let her). Maybe, with her less-developed linguistic skills, it's easier for her to tame her monkey mind. Maybe she's recalling memories of lives past, alt...

Re: Under the table money and karma - Simple meditation technique
If by 'under the table' you mean as a means to avoid tax, then that's theft as far as I'm concerned, which is against the second precept. So, yes, unskillful behaviour, unwholesome kamma. There are plenty on non-Buddhist meditation techniques and teachers. I don't know what 'do nothing' meditation is.

I've actually seen an app like that already, because I was going to use it for timing my sittings. I quickly stopped using it. Edit: I cannot remember if it was this one, but there are a lot of them floating around: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bmt" onclick="window.ope...

Seems like a sensible approach.Upāsaka Sumana wrote:he said that he wasn't sure about it, though because his practice has given him lots of benefits, he is inclined to believe it. Something along those lines.

Music to make one cringe
I thought I'd record a version of Stuart Davis's Savoring Samsara. It's somewhat simplified because 1) I'm not very good at playing the ukulele yet and 2) I cannot find the chords, so I had to figure them. Pretty terrible singing but a departure from my usual style, for those who remember that. http...

I think the comments of that article are particularly interesting. One of them highlights a big misunderstanding of what mindfulness is.

I agree with Bhikkhu Pesala. Maybe it could exist on a separate page for people who are interested, via a discreet link?Bhikkhu Pesala wrote:It would be better to remove this bit of nonsense.

Or it could be that passage from right at the beginning: "He abused me, he beat me, he defeated me, he robbed me,"--in those who harbour such thoughts hatred will never cease. "He abused me, he beat me, he defeated me, he robbed me,"--in those who do not harbour such thoughts hat...

Six years later and the title of this thread is still true.
I noticed that JCSuperstar had replied in this thread. He was a good man. I hope his rebirth is going well.
