Re: Aversion, disorientation arising from mindfulness
Don' see any question marks (other than the one, which isn't really a question)...what is the question?... In a nutshell: virtually everyone is adverse to something...nothing new here...and many ways to address it...beginning with the most simple (and sometimes most difficult): letting it go...it's...

http://www.bangkokpost.com/opinion/opinion/428069/temples-must-support-their-communities Okay, one more post and I'll back off...in reference to the above ariticle: first off, monks who drink, drug, and womanize are not tolerated by anyone (all monks in the temple where I reside have been drug test...

Re: Ousting one monk won't save the clergy
Ms. Ekachai has a real head on her shoulders...she is literally the only journalist in Thailand (that I'm aware of) who sheds any kind of light on (controversial) Buddhist (or Buddhist clergy) matters...strait forward, informed, reasoned, and consistent...kind of surprising, actually, that she and ...

Happiness is a condition...Nibbana (Nirvana) is the unconditioned...(so I'm told)...I think Nirvana...is the highest happiness.

Dear boris,
Personally (and generally) speaking, I've found this thread to be one of the best (most beneficial) I've had the pleasure to have encountered here since this website began...well done, and thank you...

Re: Should ordination of minors to be allowed?
If you consider the general lax standard of vinaya in places like Thailand and the relatively small proportion of admirable practice oriented monks. This one takes the cake...who's standard?...and relative is just that, relative...to who?, what?...where/what is the benefit ragging on anyone's pract...

...3rd precept........where did the women come from for them to break the precept? People (often) call others who do bad things 'animals'...ha!...they (every last one of them) are saints compared to the madness we get up to... ps...3rd precept?...a day's reading of world (and local) news will quick...

Re: Thai Theravadin monks and money
Would there be any chances for the Theravada Sanghas from different locations of the world to organize a conference for discussion of this controversial issue? Slim to none...generally speaking everyone (to use a radio analogy) operates on different (and vastly spread out) frequencies...AM/FM/satel...

Re: Story of A. Cha & A.Sumedho starting monasteries in Eng
Slightly off-topic, but more or less in the same vein...as a Caucasian monk living in Thailand, residing in a temple, it is a day to day struggle to contend with Thai monks (most, but not all)...citing details would serve no purpose so will forego any, other than to say that it is/can be a daily ef...

Re: Respect a person but not their beliefs?
Besides the term 'respect' being relative (and subject to opening cans of worms), where's being judgmental going to get anyone?...where's the benefit?...and why should it matter?...deciding to be respectful, or disrespectful, is a recipe for discord, because, without a doubt, feelings will change, ...
