Re: Mindfulness of Breathing and the Hindrances

If I'm not mistaken, Ajan Cha advocates mastering ``silent moment awareness'' before tackling following the breathing. Re: Mindfulness of Breathing and the Hindrances

1) Who is your favourite English speaking Theravada (or EBT) teacher/monastic focusing deeply on the suttas?
2) Or meditation teacher.

Thanks.
Analayo Bhikkhu.

Re: Everything Everywhere All at Once

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everything_Everywhere_All_at_Once This movie is nominated for best picture and several other awards at tomorrow's Academy Awards (Oscars). I haven't seen it yet, but it appears to have some philosophical and spiritual overtones to it. Michelle Yeoh , a buddhist, is nom...

Re: How to stop feeling guilty when you’re enjoying sensual pleasure?

One useful strategy... As Sam Vara says, sense pleasure is just sense pleasure. It's the seeking that is problematic. Trying to block out pleasant sense experience would would be an odd, aversive, and unproductive thing to do. Oops, right now the sun on my back feels very pleasant - pehaps some sel...

Re: Noble Eightfold Path- Lay Suttas

Anyone know of any Suttas where the Buddha directly exhorts lay disciples to practice the eightfold path, or where a lay follower specifically states that they do? I’m not looking for Suttas that indirectly state or infer practice, such as by means of the four noble truths, individual path factors ...

Re: liking and disliking

Good topic. It's best not to judge people initially and as the Buddha said it's only after having associated with them for long periods that we can only truly know that person and what they are about. We all also know what he said about companionship on the path. It's the "whole of the holy lif...
