oh and to add, i think if you want to note long or short, this is fine. some people just do "in and out" or count etc, these are sorta "baby steps" to get you to focus more clearly, one pointedly until you don't need noting anymore. but my question still remains , and the reason ...

there are reasons to assume the Buddha didn't want us to eat meat. however there were more reasons for him to not make it a rule.
