Re: Does metta have an effect beyond one's own mind?

One thing I forgot to mention is that metta provides solid and deep concentration, in my experience even more reliably than anapanasati. I used to think that metta is a bit of a "wasted session", but now it's turning out to be a "good for everything" approach :) :juggling: Metta does provide a stil...

Re: Direct brain-to-brain communication demonstrated in huma

....there was also this post that i came across over the internet today , mentioning that German Scientists have proven that there is life after death . Found it of no consequence , since this becomes obvious when we see life and living within us , and around us . Nothing required to prove anything....

Re: Does metta have an effect beyond one's own mind?

Metta is a very natural off shoot after doing every sitting of Vipassana . Without metta , vipassana will stay incomplete . A close simile is like having a very good bath , but forgetting to towel  Metta very much affects the place and room where we meditate , the place become sterilized and ...

Re: the great rebirth debate

It's funny. Rebirth used to be so important to me. But the more I become passionately involved in solving the existential crisis of my existence, the more rebirth seems to fade into the background. It is enough that the possibility exists of spontaneously reborn beings, I accept what the Buddha has...

Re: Are we ready for the deep teachings?

Venerable Rewata Dhamma once told me about a couple of his Vipassanā meditation students who asked him how one should practice mindfulness during sex. His reply was, “Work when you work, play when you play.” My he Venwrable Rewata Dhamna appears to be quoting Sayagi U Ba Khin from The Essentials of...

One who is wise is ready for deep teachings: 18. "But here some woman or man when visiting a monk or brahman, asks: 'What is wholesome, venerable sir?... Or what, by my doing it, will be long for my welfare and happiness?' Due to having performed and completed such kammas, on the dissolution of the...

Re: Challenging the Dhamma

:goodpost: Martin Buddha compare Dhamma to a raft. Four Noble Truths also a fabrication. In the final liberation you let go off that too. That is what Samraja does not understand. :) You are supposed to let go of the raft once liberated. But what if the raft has holes in the hull? Where is it gonna...

The Buddhas Assurance

Came across this very inspiring passage today . Could not find its source/link . But to my mind , the words of encouragement makes every meaning , and like all the words of Lord Buddha , is ever inspiring . A balanced view , comes very handy , should one be assailed with doubts . No rhetorics , no f...
