For those that have never been to Thailand I think I should also point out how different Thai society is to the West.
Hi Bankei

Thank you for your honest summation

by Chris » Sat Jan 02, 2010 7:29 pm Hello Bill, I wonder could you clarify for us ... Do you practise within the Forest Tradition? And, if so, through which Monastery, and under which Abbot? I'm assuming that you must because of your blunt outspokenness and certainty about motives. Hi Chris sadly t...

Re: Bhikkhuni Ordination performed - by Ajahn Brahmavamso

Hi Manapa when did Sujatos blog start? not too long before the ordination. Bhante Sujato's blog as far as I can tell commenced 24/10/09, two days after the Bhikkhuni ordination which was held on 22/10/09 "if you know you are going to war you prepare for war" & "you don't buy guns when you are prepar...

Re: Bhikkhuni Ordination performed - by Ajahn Brahmavamso

I tend to agree with Jack's opinion The argument that the WPP doesn't need to be involved in a popularity contest imho is not really valid, they did take that approach when booting Ajahn Brahm and Bodhinyana out, thinking that no one really cared, but when ongoing interest in the matter occurred and...

Re: Bhikkhuni Ordination performed - by Ajahn Brahmavamso

I for one am glad the WPP is clearly showing its attitude to Western Buddhism To me it shows that the issue is not about the Bhikkhini ordination but about control In the words of Lord Acton "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely" I now wait to see how the members of WAM res...

Re: Ajahn Sumedho's talk in Melbourne

I dont know how it is for others, but when with people like Luang Por Chah or Luang Pur Suemedho all the talk about practice, all the politics, all the opinion making and speculation fades into the background and I am reminded of why I do this stuff. There in front of you is a living exemplar. An e...
