Re: "advice for stream entry"

i cant remember the sutta but the story is there only it's not Siddhartha who sees the sights as described its a previous Buddha. i guess the thinking is all Buddhas become enlightened in the same manner or something.

i felt no pain, a little itching though, I'm not being tough or anything either, i thought it would hurt, but a modern tattoo is far far more painful.

Re: I Believe in Literal Rebirth - Poll

Hey Octathlon, this is just a suggestion, maybe you should read the heart-wood next: http://www.what-buddha-taught.net/Books/BhikkhuBuddhadasa_Heart_Wood_from_the_Bo_Tree.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; extremely good read. Yes, it's a very good book which, as far as I can tell, ...

Re: Meaning of Para loka vs paro loko

Couldn't "other worlds" (I am not sure if next world is the best interpretation) here mean mental realms? There are many mental states aka other worlds: hungry ghost, angry hell, peaceful heaven etc... Meritorious deeds give mental happiness. Misconduct produce mental turmoil. Maybe it's not a next...
