Re: Greed is an antidote to poverty .

If I had a dime for every time I'd heard a conservative blame the poor for their own problems, I'd have a sizable sum, Ben Carson is a good example of this BS, Paul Ryan, the list goes on and on. If someone claims they never heard it they're probably a Conservative stretching the truth. And I'd be ...

Re: Child Lama. I think it is ridiculous.

So. I've learned at least one thing from this: There is such a thing called called Bon. But, I don't care. Because it seems to be completely ridiculous. Just like the idea that there could be a child lama. There could not be a Child Lama, right? In the Suttas, nothing like that was ever said. Tibet...

Re: Child Lama. I think it is ridiculous.

I don't see why someone can't participate in both Forums at once. Sectarianism gives me spiritual indigestion. I'm more interested in improving myself, than in clinging to the notion that "Only this Path is correct, all others are false (or misleading, incomplete, distorted etc). I'm leaning more n...

Re: Child Lama. I think it is ridiculous.

I used to be involved with Tibetan Buddhism myself and saw that movie years ago. I've also read "The Story of Tibet - conversations with the Dalai Lama" by Thomas Laird. It tells, amongst other things, about the Gelugpa sect acquiring political and military power and their leaders (the Dalai lamas)...

Re: Why being a loner may be good for your health

Isolation causes depression. This has been clinically proven. That is my experience. Being unusual-looking, I cop a fair amount of ridicule from strangers, especially teenagers in groups (and some adults also, which surprises me). I'd say I get laughed at or put down by total strangers, about once ...

Regardless of his personal life, he was a funny guy with lots of wisdom. I still enjoy listening to his talks from time to time.

Re: What is the practical use of this body?

What is the practical use of this body? There is a practical use of a cup as we can drink water quenching our thirst. What is the practical use of the body? Spiritual development. From Rahulovada sutta as ecplained by Lord buddha to Rahula, Our body contains apo, tejo, vayo Patavi being similar mat...
