Re: Nekkhamma

Just a matter of interest, in Sri Laka when someone ask "How are you" we say "Nikham" (living without doing anything).
This word is used to denote people who do nothing. (bludgers)

... or is it much more? It's an intimate description of the experience of what it's like when the self disappears . Agree. That is how I see it too. ======= then, Bāhiya, there is no you in connection with that. When there is no you in connection with that, there is no you there. When there is no y...

This is the first time I heard a present-day monk is referring to another recent monk as Arahant.

Re: Who is Munboridatta Arahant in Thailand?

Thanks, James, I think it is him. It is interesting to see this well-learned Sri Lankan Buddhist monk Ven Walpola Gotama refers to him as an Arahant. See the photo of Bone fragments collected after the cremation of Æcariya Mun’s body have since transformed into crystal-like relics in various hues of...

i went to that library but didn't notice it.
Did you make an inquiry?
It appears these old documents are kept in well-guarded places and not allowed access to an average visitor like me.
Perhaps you have to go through the official means to access them.

Did Buddha consume meat?

Did Buddha consume meat? I like to discuss the instances mentioned in Sutta which discuss monks or Buddha consuming meat. I found the following Sutta. “No carrion-stench is mine”, you say like this, that it does not apply to you, O Brahma-kin— while eating sālī-rice, all other things with flesh of f...

Re: Mahayana /Vajrayana attitude with Pali Canon?

One do not try to achieve a state , one abandon the fetters and automatically arrive at it . Agree. I am jus...

Re: Mahayana /Vajrayana attitude with Pali Canon?

I want to ask if there ever was any school, or author, that had this position - of accepting only the Pali Canon, but having a mahayana or Vajrayana attitude? Not quite the Mahayana or Vajrayana way. But gradual training is major teaching in Theravada. You find a comfortable place for yourself and ...
