Re: foot falling asleep too the point that i can't move it???

Use a meditation bench, cushion, pillow... it's simply compressed nerves, adjust the sitting position and it's solved. No use just enduring it for the sake of the "I am sitting in lotus" dhamma. thanks much :) and ugh, i know you're right but i've heard too many people say it has to be lotu...

satipatthana practice?

i practice the all around mindfulness ideas from satipatthana but i don't understand the huge amount of methods found in MN 10/DN 22. are you supposed too practice them sequentially, in tandem, pick just one, do whatever one is the most relevant to whatever you are doing, or what?

Re: foot falling asleep too the point that i can't move it???

From Bhante G: It is very common for beginners to have their legs fall asleep or go numb during meditation. They are simply not accustomed to the cross-legged posture. Some people get very anxious about this. They feel they must get up and move around. A few are completely convinced that they will ...

Re: seriously, no one else has any ideas? dealing with emotion?

Hi Johnny, Most probably your emotional patterns are repeating. In jhana, you can play "touch'n'go" with them - gently approach the emotion as long as jhana is stable, and then return back to just concentration. Several times, and the transformation will be on the way. Best wishes, Dmytro indeed, w...

Re: seriously, no one else has any ideas? dealing with emotion?

I think Id have to agree, meditation itself isn't meant to escape problems, rather, to be with them in their entirety. I like to think that the reason why the Middle Way taught by Buddha isn't as popular as, lets say, McDonalds is because of its difficulty and honesty. Buddha taught meditation as a...

Re: Between meditation sessions?

In my experience deep calm meditations will naturally effect the mind for a long time, sometimes even days. So that's one way to practice for results over the entire day. Another thing is to keep mindful throughout the day. See when a tendency of worry or stress arises, know it's impermanence and l...

seriously, no one else has any ideas? dealing with emotion?

So I get into access no problem and feel great, and sometimes even into jhana, during meditation. It's fantastic. however what am I supposed too do when I get down in the dumps in a normal part of the day? For example: today I was stressing myself out, worrying about this and that, really down. Then...
