Re: Dream World v Real World!

There is something we need to talk about......apples! For everything that ever existed it must have a cause, so what you see now is actually an effect.....cause and effect!.....this is very important. So where does an apple come from?.....here are the chain of events: From an apple, we can obtain th...

Re: Dream World v Real World!

Do what? One can definitely cling without seeing. I agree with you that seeing anicca, dukkha, & anatta is much more important than talking about them. No matter if we are living in a dream or not, the Buddha pointed the way to cease suffering. Uncling. The Buddha taught us to see beyond dreams.......

Re: Dream World v Real World!

Words are not going to do it are they?.....honestly. Even if the suttras are telling you it is a dream world and even if one truly believes it is a dream world, it is not going to work.....why?.....because believe is not good enough, one must go beyond it.....one needs to “know”.....to know, one nee...

Re: Dream World v Real World!

Why? because all states of consciousness are anicca (impermanent, uncertain, etc.) Saying consciousness is impermanent is not going to cut it. It is the same as saying there is no self. There is something more important that needs to be understood and fully comprehended before one can SEE. If one c...

Re: Inwardly and outwardly?

Only the mind has the ability to look inwards, the body cannot.
The mind itself cannot express, the body does.
Hence mind inwardly.....body outwardly.

Can a mind be seperated from a body to operate alone?

Re: Inwardly and outwardly?

Views comes from the body and mind. From body and/or mind or from body in relation to mind or from mind in relation to body or sometimes from body and sometimes form mind? There are no views in Buddhism. So its the path dullness, blindness? Or did you talk more about the aims of this path? To be du...

Re: Dream World v Real World!

It is time to wrap things up. Arguments for the “Dream World” as follows: MN 106: by santa100: “The Blessed One said: "Monks, sensuality is inconstant, hollow, vain, deceptive. It is illusory, the babble of fools. Sensuality here & now; sensuality in lives to come; sensual perceptions here & now; se...

They are simply views.
Views comes from the body and mind.
There are no views in Buddhism.

Re: The Beautiful Arahant

Nice story. It is nothing other than her self created view that kept her in the dark and attached to them. When the realization came in the mind, it all just disappears. There would be no happy or sad as they only exist in the self created wrong view.....she had understood what needs to be understoo...

Re: Pali : Seeing the Dhamma

"Distance" is the difference between the first paragraph and the second.
A monk following right behind an Arahart v a monk one hundred leagues away.

Distance is being used to illustrate the point that "Seeing the Dhamma" is not by seeing with ones eyes.
It is seen with the "mind".

Re: Dream World v Real World!

Consciousness is very important here hence consciousness defines who we are and "NOT" the body and mind. (more on this consciousness later) Which consciousness are you referring to? Is there a consciousness apart from body (eye, ear, nose, tongue, tactile) and mind (intellect)? Again you have to tr...

Re: Dream World v Real World!

Why you have a such attachement to the dream world? Or i dont fully understand your position? Whant is your position? :embarassed: There are no such attachments for me. We will soon get to a point where we will have a final understanding between both the dream world and the real world, why don't we...

Re: Dream World v Real World!

I can only speak from my experience. When I am asleep, if I hear a loud noise I will wake up. If someone was to put under my nose something that smelt very strong, I would wake up. If I became cold, I would wake up. Therefore in some subtle way, my hearing consciousness, my smell consciousness and ...

Thank you for your responses DAWN. emm.....waiting for death of my body?.....well, when we get to the end of this thread, hopefully you will realize that there is no such a thing as death. 1.
