Re: Ajahn Chah Remembrance Day 2011

Hi Pilgrim Had you seen this http://www.dhammaloka.org.au/home/item/1157-relations-with-the-wat-pa-pong-sangha-worldwide.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;? I don't think mention of "this conflict" is taboo but hopefully it is becoming obsolete. :anjali: Mr Man, Thanks for pointing...

Re: From the annals of samsara

I too have seen some really odd Buddhism ads on Facebook starting around the time I began researching it (using Google, mostly). Some ad company must see it as a fad or something and is pounding on it as such. :-/

Aside from the per-view revenue, they aren't making any money off of me...

Re: praying to god

I was thinking about this a bit today and thought I'd share my own thoughts on it. While I do not pray in the sense of directing my recited words or thoughts to a deity or saint, I do read and verbally recite (when not intrusive to others) a series of reminders, which starts with an affirmation of r...

Re: Uposatha Observance Club

I do try to avoid anything becoming obsessive, as it then seems to become it's own sort of fetter for me (and I have plenty already, ha!). I have, however, used some of Bhikkhu Bodhi's work found there, and the copy of the Dhammapada that I carry was found there. :) I have found the site very useful...

Re: Uposatha Observance Club

Thank you very much, Buckwheat. I have read a lot on that site and clearly just missed that they had a calendar there at all. *facepalm*

Fortunately, most of the dates I had marked in my calendar were still good, requiring very little additional use of my terrible penmanship.

Re: Uposatha Observance Club

I used a different calendar, obviously, to determine the moon cycle dates because I observed on Monday. :-/ Anyone have a more accurate calendar? I didn't really know where to look to but I ended up here: http://kalender-365.de/lunar-calendar.php?yy=2012" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false...

Howdy

Hello Dhamma Wheel, :) I am called Dave, and I'm new to Buddhist practice. That is to say that I've been studying and applying the Buddha's teachings to my life since October of 2011, and am continually seeking out new resources on the subject so as to expand my practice. Just kinda stumbled upon th...
